[jump
to BtVS] crossover stories between the series show up in both categories
Angel
the Series:
AtS:
Faith/Wesley: Glass
Shard Substitution by Nicole Clevenger
Set after 'Orpheus'.
Short, and painful, but very very good. Damaged!Faith, and EvenMoreDamaged!Wesley,
having sex.
Also written in 2nd person pov, something I'm not very fond of, but
this story really did suck me in, and I didn't notice it anymore after
the 3rd paragraph or so.
AtS/BtVS: Spike, Wesley: William
the Bloody Useless and the Beaker of Doom by Roseveare
Spike aka William the Bloody, experiencing a rather bad week
while attempting to affect the removal of one Pesky Government Implant,
is forced by Dire Circumstance to join forces with the World's Worst
Demon Hunter to save the world from Imminent Destruction.
Set early during season 1 AtS. Is fun. Go read.
AtS: Angel: I'm
a lumberjack and I'm okay by eliade
Angel contemplates a career change.
Buffy: "You're going to be a what?"
Angel: "A lumberjack."
Screamingly funny. Read. Now.
AtS: Connor/Wesley: Louder
Than Words by wesleysgirl
Missing scene from the ep "Peace Out" (and so, spoilers).
"That's okay," Connor said, reaching out a hand and cupping Wesley's
face. "I get to have sex with everyone my father wants."
*guh*
spot-on characterization, and the last line is just wonderful. Do yourself
a favor and read it.
BtVS/AtS: Angel/Spike: Counting
the Days by Dira Sudis
After Buffy's death, Dawn needs to get out of the house, so Spike
takes her down to LA.
I'm not quite sure if the Angel/Spike dynamic in the story really convinced
me - I can't really see Spike act this submissive, this easily.
I did, however, like the Dawn parts, and the Dawn/Spike interaction.
AtS/BtVS: Spike/Lindsey: Looking
at You by Lu
I never quite got the attraction that many of my friends had with
Lindsey. But still, he was a pretty thing...
Yes, Spike/Lindsey is a very uncommon pairing, but damn if the author
doesn't make it work, *and* make it hot.
Lindsey goes to Sunnydale in search of Darla and meets up with a
different blond vampire.
Spoilers for season 5 of Buffy and season 2 of Angel. Not fluffy. But
hot. (nice cover art, too...)
AtS: Lilah: Five
Cities, Five Stories by Jennifer-Oksana
5 AU snippets about Lilah. I don't really have anything else to
comment, except that I liked them.
BtVS/AtS: Xander/Spike(/Anya), Wesley/Gunn, Tara/Willow: Small
Fry and Son
of Small Fry by ... gee, it's Mad Poetess and James Walkswithwinds
again.
Buffy and the Scoobs find an ancient, mysterious, magical artifact
that they shouldn't touch. They touch it. And: Then they touch
it again.
ok, this is cute, so consider yourself warned for that. And if you can
get past the cuteness issue, you get a warning for "might make you giggle
until your can't breathe".
Theoretically, these come with yet another warning, but that would give
the plot away.
These are some of the funniest stories I've come across - *if* you can
get past the cuteness...
AtS: Wesleyslash: Skelping
by Mad Poetess
This is a Wesley/Doyle story that follows canon (ie: dead!Doyle).
And yet, it works. Really. Give it a try.
AtS: Wesleyslash: Wesley
Rogue Demon by Mad Poetess again, with James Walkswithwind
I'm not sure if this one really works for me, but it stayed with
me for quite some time, so that's good enough for me to rec it.
Not giving the plot away, so you'll just have to read and find out,
but I *am* warning for ... I'm not sure what to call it. It's a very...
unusual (hurt!)Wesley (this is inaccurate, actually. Read the story
to find out why).
PG rated slash, btw.
AtS/BtVS: Xander/Spike, Angel/Gunn/Wesley: Domestic
Piranhas by Mad Poetess and James Walkswithwinds
It's
like real life, only sillier.
...
no, I can't think of a good way to describe it. Just - throw expectations
out of the window, and dive in and have fun.
AtS/BtVS: Spike, Wesley, Giles: Eyes
only by Lesley, Lori & Magpie
ok,
this is a semi-rec. Because:
I've only started reading this - I'm in Section Two at the moment. So
far, tho, I'm enjoying myself, but some of the future story will be
told in blog format, and I don't know yet if (or how) this is going
to work.
and also because: characterization. I do enjoy what I'm reading, but
the characters don't ring true to me. Sometimes they're more, sometimes
less ooc, but ooc (at least for how I view Wesley, Spike and Giles)
nonetheless.
Still, as I said, I'm having fun. And hey, it might be something to
bookmark and read bit by bit at work, whenever you can sneak in a bit
of reading...
It is, btw, het: Spike/Buffy, Wesley/Lilah, and Giles/Anya. It is, however,
told from (and focussing on) the men's pov. I assume they'll meet up
with their respective partners eventually, but so far, while we have
seen Lilah and a tiny bit of Anya, they've only been there for a little
bit.
AtS/BtVS RPG
I
tried to follow wes_visions_rpg
at the beginning, but then got lost, because the LJ format isn't too
easy to keep track of.
However, I just found that there's a Reader's
Guide, and just spent 3 hours (where I had planned to do laundry/sort
out clothes to throw out), reading and reading.
It's fun, it's het and slash, and it's got quite a few good authors.
The only drawback is that I can't easily save it and put it on my ebook...
AtS: Wesley/various (slash and het): Themes
and Leitmotifs by Jennifer-Oksana
Wesley
and the various loves in his life. *cuddles Wes* Damn good Wesley characterization,
and wonderful descriptions of the various pairings. spoilers up to Apocalypse,
Nowish, and speculation beyond that
BtVS/Ats:
Faith, Wesley, Spike: 'Snakes
and Ladders', by Pied Margaret
set
after S6/S3, and told in alternating points-of-view. Parts are dark
(mostly Wesley, at the beginning, very *ouch*), but overall, it works
very well, especially how the different parts work together.
I liked the character voices a lot, and I think Faith's and Wesley's
were very well done. Spike's was - not bad, but not quite as good, but
given that it's written after what happened at the end of Season 6,
that might be explainable. Certainly not enough to throw me out of the
story, just - less the Spike I hear and see.
The three main characters work very well together, and I also like what
we see of everyone else. And I am very fond of how the situation resolves,
that's something I wouldn't mind seeing on the show.
The sequel is already in progress, and I'm very much looking forward
to reading it once it's finished. Oh, there's het sex, and at the beginning,
some of it is of the not-so-nice kind. Well, it's the bits with Lilah,
so...
AtS,
Wesley, Connor: 'Deliverance',
by debchan
There's
really not much I can say about it, except that it's Wesley and Connor,
and it's set after 'Tomorrow'. And that it's good.
AtS/BtVS:
Yahtzee
Buffy
was never a fandom where I was much interested in reading gen. But I
knew Yahtzee from TPM (where she wrote quite wonderful slash), so I
gave her BtVS and AtS stuff a try - and am *very* happy for having done
so. She managed to make me like characters I don't usually care for,
and comes up with very original plots.
Her stories could almost be episodes, they're very spot on for tone
and character voice...

[jump
to AtS] crossover stories
between the series show up in both categories
Buffy
the Vampire Slayer
HP/BtVS:
Remus/Oz: Boreal
by 3jane (Jane St Claire)
Werewolves are not like people.
hmmm... nice. Very good characterization, spot-on voices. A couple of
lines that made me giggle. Made me like Oz, and I always fond him extremely
boring in canon. Made me want to huggle Lupin.
Plotwise: Remus is in America, trying to meet werewolves and to convince
them to not join Voldemort.
(I'd love to see 3jane write Giles/Remus, but maybe
that's just me...)
BtVS: Dawn, future: Teaser
Snippet by jennyo
oh, nice and dark future-snippet. I *so* want to see where this
goes.
BtVS: Willow/Spike/Tara: His
'N' Hers 'N' Hers by Lovesbitca
Willow thinks that Tara should have sex with a man once. She also
thinks that Spike would be a good candidate.
I loved the characterizations, and while I'm aware that the pairing
is extremely unlikely, I'm personally fond of the idea of Spike and
Tara, and willing to go with the plot if it's at least halfway decent.
Overall, the stories were great, smutty fun.
BtVS: Xander/Andrew The
History of the Decline and Fall of the Ikea Empire by vagabond_sal
It's short, and set after the end of the series, and it works for
me. Good Xander-voice.
BtVS: Buffy/Faith: Coastal
by Minim Calibre
Set after the end of the series, Buffy and Faith get some time
alone.
short, and nice.
BtVS: Spike/Andrew: Knocking
on Heaven's Door by estepheia
Yes, I know, probably not everybody's pairing, but surprisingly
enough, this works, and works well. It's set during S7 'Touched', when
Spike and Andrew are stuck at the mission.
I liked the character voices, and I can totally see the plot (such as
it is) happen in canon.
This is not a pairing I could belive in the long run, but as it's presented
here - oh yes.
BtVS/Good Omens XO: Satan
is no Gentleman by afrai
mini-fic, in response to the Slayers of other fictional worlds challenge.
Wonderful Pepper and Adam. I really wish there was more of this. *sigh*
BtVS: Xander/?: My
Love by James
Insane. But... has a certain appeal.
(it's extremely short, and fun. Go read. You know you want to...)
and if that wasn't enough insanity for you, there's a sequel,
from the other pov.
*sniff* oh the angst.
BtVS: Tara/Anya: Naked
Thoughts by Anna S.
absolutely beautiful and spot-on Tara voice.
Is fun. Go read.
BtVS/Good Omens: California
Dreaming by Daegaer
Yes, it's a Good Omens/Buffy crossover, and it *works*. Beautifully
so.
There's not much else to say: if you've read Good Omens, you *must*
read this fic. If you've never read Good Omens, you should go and buy
the novel, and then read this fic.
BtVS, Xander/Spike: Titleless
Birthday PWP by benaresq
Spike and Xander, set during season 4. PWP, but of the actually
hot and in character variety. Also some great lines to snigger over.
"Your cock seems to like being stared at. Keep the red flag flying,
eh?"
"My cock is stupid. It dated Cordelia. Please ignore anything it tries
to contribute to this discussion."
BtVS/AtS: Spike/Lindsey: Looking
at You by Lu
I never quite got the attraction that many of my friends had with

Yes, Spike/Lindsey is a very uncommon pairing, but damn if the author

Lindsey goes to Sunnydale in search of Darla and meets up with a
different blond vampire.
Spoilers for season 5 of Buffy and season 2 of Angel. Not fluffy. But
hot. (nice cover art, too...)
BtVS: Spike (and Buffy): Spectacle
by Shrift
set after Buffy 7x11, Showtime.
the getting home, and meeting the SiTs. (yes, obscure summary, for spoiler-avoidance
reasons)
Nothing big happens, but nice characterization.
BtVS/AtS: Xander/Spike(/Anya), Wesley/Gunn, Tara/Willow: Small
Fry and Son
of Small Fry by ... gee, it's Mad Poetess and James Walkswithwinds
again.
Buffy and the Scoobs find an ancient, mysterious, magical artifact

BtVS/AtS: Xander/Spike, Angel/Gunn/Wesley: Domestic
Piranhas by Mad Poetess and James Walkswithwinds
It's like real life, only sillier.
...
no, I can't think of a good way to describe it. Just - throw expectations
out of the window, and dive in and have fun.
BtVS: LJ RPG
I just found out that there's apparently a whole bunch of current
Buffy Season 7 characters doing a RPG-ish thing, at the sunnydale_socks
- Sunnydale Sock Puppet Theatre.
Read through the entries, and the only really fun journals are thefirstevil
and also, to a lesser degree, red_witch.
Beware the spoilers.
AtS/BtVS: Spike, Wesley, Giles: Eyes
only by Lesley, Lori & Magpie
ok, this is a semi-rec. Because:
I've only started reading this - I'm in Section Two at the moment. So

It is, btw, het: Spike/Buffy, Wesley/Lilah, and Giles/Anya. It is, however,
told from (and focussing on) the men's pov. I assume they'll meet up
with their respective partners eventually, but so far, while we have
seen Lilah and a tiny bit of Anya, they've only been there for a little
bit.
BtVS/Neverwhere, gen: Forgotten
Girl, by Mary Borsellino
*insert incoherent sounds*
*This* is what a good crossover should be: absolutely wonderful, and
fitting beautifully.
Dawn, after the end of season 5, falls through the cracks of reality,
and lands in Neverwhere.
Knowledge of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (book or tv series) is
probably needed.
*happysigh* There should be more stories like this.
BtVS Snippet
by zyre
Wesley and Spike, from a kitten-pov. Yes, it's cure. *wheee*.
AtS/BtVS RPG
I tried to follow wes_visions_rpg
at the beginning, but then got lost, because the LJ format isn't too
easy to keep track of.
BtVS: Spike/Xander: Post-Grad
by Te.
I tried to get into that pairing a couple of times, way back when
during season 4 of BtVS, and all the stories I found were pretty much
*bleh*. And then - *whoom*.
I really, truly hated Te for writing this story - *unfair*, hooking
me on a pairing where everything else was absolutely not to my liking.
There are still not many writers who can write Spike/Xander in a way
that makes me love the story, but Post-Grad (and the sequel, and the
related snippets) still stand out as the stories that made me see the
awesome possibilities of the pairing.
(story is set after season 3. story is not fluffy.)
BtVS: Spike/Xander: Chocolatey
Goodness by Mad Poetess
Spike, Xander, Chocolate, Sex and Blood. Lots of Fun.
I spent one long Saturday reading the story (up to part 14 or 15, I
think) in one go. And then I spend the night and all of Sunday clawing
at pieces of furniture because the story made me *crave* chocolate.
And I am one of those strange people that don't even *like* chocolate
(most of the time, except only occasionally and then only if it's the
good and very very expensive stuff). So - it's probably not a story
you should be reading when you're on a diet...
BtVS, Spike/Tara
I love the pairing, so yes, I'll forgive stuff that would irk me
if it was a pairings I'd less love to see. If you can't stand the idea
of Tara het, run away now.
Mostly
Harmless by Dear Cheetoh Breath is short, and - well, ok, there's
not much plot, but it's a fun read.
Done
to Death by Anne Hedonia is longer, and I'm not sure if I was really
convinced by the characterisation, but - as I said, I like the pairing,
so I'm willing to forgive a lot. Consider that a warning.
These 2 are the only stories I found that I could actually enjoy, so
if anyone knows anything else with this pairing that's halfway believeable,
*please* tell me?
BtVS/HP, Draco/Riley: L'Heure
Bleu
now *this* was unexpected... considering I usually find Riley as
interesting as old lint. But the only thing I knew about the story was
that it was a BtVS/HP XO, so I just started reading, and got sucked
in...
I think the only thing that I have a quibble with is the reply to the
'Wesley Wyndham-Pryce' question.
BtVS, AU Giles/Buffy A. C. Chapins 'Alternative
Lifestyle'
These are AU versions of Buffy and Giles, called Annie and Ripper,
in a world that is darker. Their Angelus manages to abduct Ripper, and
Annie goes to find help - in the form of 'our' Giles and Buffy.
Ripper in leather. *mrrr*
I know quite a lot of people find Giles/Buffy somewhat off-putting,
but I'd still encourage them to give this version of the pairing a try.
BtVs, dark: Lesley's 'The
Three Lions'
Three sequences of fics starting immediately after BtVS S6. Willow
and Spike convalesce with Giles in London and watch the World Cup. Wesley
also arrives. Difficult decisions have to be made and the consequences
dealt with.
This is, apparently, my day for dark - and I wasn't even looking for
dark. But damn, this story sucked me in, and made me *WANT* to see this
next season. The decision, and the consequences - ow, and yet... really,
*that* would be a continuation for a 'grown up' season of Buffy. But,
of course, they wouldn't do that on screen.
I have to admit, it's not my favorite 'what might happen with Spike
now' scenario, but for this story, it works. All the character voices
are very good, and I just kept wanting to hug all the British guys.
I also very much liked the Anya piece in Sequence Three, and I suppose
Oz is also done well - but I find Oz as interesting as lint, so I'm
probably not the best judge of that.
This is definitly worth a read, but I'm warning you, right now, Sequence
Three isn't finished yet. Reading just One and Two isn't bad, there's
a good stopping point, but as of this writing, Three stops at story
5, and considering that I just bit through my pillow when it ended,
you might want to wait until it's done as well.
[ETA: it's now finished, and I have to say that the end disappointed
me a lot. The beginning had a lot of promise, but... *sigh*]
BtVS, First Slayer: 'Bed
of Bones', by RozK
A story about the First Slayer, from the S5 episode 'Restless'.
Read it about a year ago, and for some reason didn't save it, and now
found it again. *happy sigh*
She had no speech. She tossed her head or pointed or sighed. Some
of the others were slow to understand; others faster. She knew which
ones to trust, to share food with, to groom, to have sex with; she knew
their faces and their signs. Names did not exist.
None of them understood what came in the night, the dead things, and
she had no way of telling them. She knew, because she had seen, and,
having seen, lived and fought.
BtVS/AtS: Faith, Wesley, Spike 'Snakes
and Ladders', by Pied Margaret.
set after S6/S3, and told in alternating points-of-view. Parts are
dark (mostly Wesley, at the beginning, very *ouch*), but overall, it
works very well, especially how the different parts work together.

Oh, there's het sex, and at the beginning, some of it is of the not-so-nice
kind. Well, it's the bits with Lilah, so...
BtVS, dark
2 stories with a similar concept, and no, I'm not telling you what
it is.
The first one is by RivkaT, and is called 'Allegiances'.
Set during season 4, after 'A New Man', and includes all the Buffy regulars,
and the Initiative. You might want to stay away if you really like Riley,
but then again, this Riley is a very believable one. One draw-back on
this one, tho: 'Terra' instead of 'Tara'. *wince*
The other one is 'The
Twelfth Sister' by Rowan. This one just has Faith and the Watchers,
but that doesn't make it any less dark. And then there is the AU version
of it, 'The
Twelfth Sister Revisited'... *shiver*
BtVS: Giles, Tara (gen): 'Terror',
by Twinkledru.
Spoilers for 'Seeing Red', so I can't really give a plot summary
- you'll just have to read it.
There's a hint of past het for Tara, in case you need to be warned for
that, and a hint of past slash for Giles.
BtVS, Giles 'Things
Giles Does Not Say, and One Thing He Does' by ... Laura Ellen? (the
page doesn't make it easy to find out who she is)
Short, but good. ... I really don't know what else to say. It's
very - Giles...
BtVS: Tara: 'Life
in Shadow', by minnow
A day in Tara's life, set after the ep 'Older and Far Away'. Great
characterization, and it made me yearn for a different ending of this
season.
BtVS/HP: Tara and Lupin, gen: 'Shining
Girl' by Liz Barr
Tara and Remus Lupin meet in a bar. Short, and wonderfully written.
BtVS, Willow/Tara Melymbrosia's 'Truly
and Forever'
Spoilers for Seeing Red. Short - only 5K.
"I love you, she says, I do this because I love you"
Frighteningly possible. Read. Now.
BtVS/AtS: Yahtzee
Buffy was never a fandom where I was much interested in reading
gen. But I knew Yahtzee from TPM (where she wrote quite wonderful slash),
so I gave her BtVS and AtS stuff a try - and am *very* happy for having
done so. She managed to make me like characters I don't usually care
for, and comes up with very original plots.
Her stories could almost be episodes, they're very spot on for tone
and character voice...
BtVS, Buffy/Spike: A
Raising in the Sun and the sequel, Necessary
Evils, by Barb Cummings.
Buffy's resurrection, done much better than in canon.
BtVS, Buffy/Spike: The
Heart's Filthy Lesson, Serious
Moonlight and Changes
Probably my favorite Buffy/Spike series.
The only serious drawback? The bad guy in HFL is called "Wirtschaftsministerium
demon". Considering that 'Wirtschaftsministerium' is German for 'ministry
of economics', that *did* throw me out of the story every time I came
across it.
