After
his big sister moved back into his home, Xôn was no longer free to bring
home his girlfriends whenever he wanted. Luckily, Oasis knew a nice
secluded spot in the woods near her home that was perfect for a little
al-fresco lovemaking.

Their relationship had been happy - or so Oasis had thought. But then,
one day, she just felt like spending some time in the clearing where
they normally made love, even tho Xôn had told her he wouldn't be able
to make it that evening. And what did she find? Xôn, cheating on her
with some other girl! She wasn't going to let anyone treat her like
that, and immediately broke off their relationship.

However, Xôn had left her with a little "gift"... But Moon was very
supportive, and told her that she'd have no problem taking care of a
grandchild while Oasis went to university.
Finally it was time for Oasis to go into labor, and she had a little
girl that she promptly named Petal. Strangely enough, all she seems
to have inherited from her father is a slightly darker skin tone and
the bright blue eyes of Xôn's mother.
After Petal's birth, Moon expected Oasis to leave for University, and
when Petal announced that she would much rather stay at home and look
after her baby (and also find a husband), Moon wasn't overly happy.
She knew Oasis was intelligent, and she'd hoped Oasis would have higher
aspirations that just becoming a mother. However, Oasis won that fight,
and stayed home.

Petal grew into an *extremely* cute little toddler, and Moon immediately
made sure that she always had someone to play with her, and to playfully
teach her things. Maybe, if Moon couldn't convince her daughter of the
joys of learning, she might succeed with her granddaughter.

One day, Oasis found a bug infestation on their lot. Knowing how much
her mother was afraid of bugs, she called an Exterminator and begged
them to come over immediately. When they really did arrive promptly
and take care of the bugs in under an hour, Oasis was impressed and
gave the guy a nice tip.

And that impressed the Exterminator (ok, he's called
Robi - I keep wanting to type Terminator. *g*) enough that he
started a conversation with her, which ended in phone numbers being
exchanged.

They kept in phone contact, and after Oasis grew into an adult, they
also started meeting each other again, going out for a coffee or a quick
lunch. Robi would usually walk her home, and they'd joke around a lot
- and eventually, they started to flirt a bit.

Oasis was afraid that her mother wouldn't really approve of someone
like Robi, so she tried to keep the relationship quiet, and usually
just said she was going out with friends. However, she severely underestimated
her mother, who was clever enough to notice what was going on with her
daughter - especially if said going-ons happened right in front of their
bathroom window...

Petal meanwhile showed quite an aptitude for music - she spent nearly
all of her time hammering on her little xylophone. Eventually it was
time for her birthday, and she grew up into a ... rather interesting
child.
*sigh* apparently I was stupid enough to also make the
Remus Lupin skin genetic. And since male and female children both use
the same skin, of course she's going to show the facial scars. *sigh*
Oh well, just consider it a tragic accident, and that they have to wait
until she grows into a teenager before they can have her undergo plastic
surgery.

After her daughter's birthday, Oasis finally sat down with Moon and
told her that there was someone special who could make her laugh and
who she thought she might be falling in love with - but that he was
maybe not quite what Moon would have wanted for her. Moon - who'd been
waiting for Oasis to come to her - of course told her that she understood.
And she did - after all, she'd certainly not married for love, and that
hadn't turned out well at all. She was going to support Oasis wherever
she could, and if the guy she was seeing made her happy, Oasis should
go for it.

Of course, Moon certainly wasn't happy with the thought of her only
daughter marrying a mostly uneducated guy who worked as an Exterminator,
but she also knew better than to try and talk Oasis out of it. And if
she occasionally spent some time sobbing quietly in the bathroom...
well, noone needed to ever know.
