The
Everyman family moved to a beautiful old Victorian building in Normalville
to ensure that their children would grow up in a small and nice community.

Maria Rose loved being a housewife, and was an especially good cook.
Her husband, William ... well, he was very nice. And he loved to work
out, and had quite a decent career at the military. If Maria Rose would
have preferred a husband who was her superior when it came to intelligence
- well, she had wanted a family, and been willing to settle for someone
who'd treat her well, love her and her children, and never think of
straying.

William was also quite goofy...

Their two children were Beth Rose, who much like her mother wanted to
marry and have a large family, and Billy, who took after his maternal
grandmother. Grandma Rose had been a shrewd woman who had run her farm
with an iron hand, and made quite a profit. As a result, Billy wasn't
overly interested in interacting with his family - he considered their
dreams and goals, of spouses and children and happy homes - so unambitious.

Billy eventually met his neighbor, Janet Normals, and decided to find
out if there was anything to these dreams of romance. He wasn't overly
impressed.

Overall, the family was happy. Their main problem during the kid's teen
years was the fact that Beth Rose, unfortunately, had inherited her
neatness - or, well, the lack of it - from her father.
