Normalville - 08a

I'm doing my best to put everything into something resembling chronological order, with some shuffling to make the storylines read better. Click on the family name to get to the family-only summaries.

I finally sat down and weeded out my screenshots and wrote up another part of this storyline. As it's been 4 months since I last updated, this update is rather long - but at least this time, I played with all of the families. I just wanted to wait until all children in this generation transitioned into teenagers; I had no idea it'd take me this long.

There are a *lot* of pictures this time. I've been somewhat more aggressive with resizing and compressing them this time - they could look better, but at least they load reasonably quickly.

Note: I still play with the teen woohoo hack, realistic nudes, teen pregnancy, and occasionally have disturbing storylines.

First of all, here are some facts about this neighborhood that I know when I'm playing, but that I've never mentioned before (feel free to skip, it's not really essential information):

So far, Normalville and it's new "neighborhood" of of Maxis families ('Pleasanttown') aren't interacting a lot yet. They're 2 separate towns that are going to slowly grow closer. Some adults have met each other via their jobs, but that's it. This generation will not intermarry (I made sure all kids only made 'appropriate' friends), but the next generation will probably have to.

Normalville was created to be a very white neighborhood, where colored sims would at first not be welcome and would take a while to be integrated. I had originally planned to create new sims with other skin tones and introduce them slowly, but I'll now just use the colored sims that come with the Maxis families to introduce more variety.

I've played blue-skinned aliens to be non-existent to any higher government as soon as it was possible to do so: they never go to school, and are - more or less - a hidden secret. Green-skinned aliens are known to exist, but given their strange (and to the more conservative minds, "perverted") origins, Normalville has been less than welcoming to them. Pleasanttown, of course, already has a long history with green-skinned people, and while they're still somewhat of a novelty, they are pretty well integrated into their community.

There's some political diversity: generally, Normalville is more conservative than Pleasanttown, but it really depends on individual families. The Breeders are the most conservative, and the Cheaters have so far been the most liberal ones (which is why Tobias Breeder considered it such a catch to make Daniela Cheater to fall in love with him - he wants to follow her father as the new mayor). The religion that has shown up so far is Christianity-flavored, but isn't supposed to be represent any particular denomination - they have a nunnery, but the Breeders act like extreme fundamentalists.

When it comes to jobs, I keep an eye on the high-level ones. It's not possible for more than one sim per generation to have any of the top-level jobs in most careers: there's no place for more than 1 mayor or Captain Hero (or even Head of Law enforcement), but there is room for more than one mad scientist. This isn't that much of a hassle, since I use quite a few custom careers.

Each generation will only have a handful of college students. All of them will either have earned at least one scholarship, or they'll have very rich parents.

I also don't play to maximize moods or reach the highest job or make the most money: some sims will never be happy, or never be rich, or never rise above a very low-level job. I like the variety. Besides, it makes for more interesting story-lines. *g*

Here's an overview of what Normalville looks like now. All the houses in the lower row are the families I created, all the houses in the middle of the upper row are the families I imported from the Maxis neighborhoods. The 2 houses in the left upper row are the 2 legacy families, and the 2 lots in the right upper row are the community lot and the graveyard (technically a CAS-created family, but it'll serve both neighborhoods).

Strict:

Charlotte and Melanie Strict grew into adults, and Melanie left the house to marry John III Normals. Charlotte stayed single and concentrated on her CSI career, quickly reaching the top, which left her with enough time to take care of her parents. Somehow, she had never gotten out of the shadow of her younger, much more glamorous sibling, and pretty much thought that love had passed her by completely.

Charles and Melihet grew into elders, and as soon as Charles retired from his job as Chief of Staff, all he and Melhati did was flirt and smooch with each other (all autonomously). Melihet also stayed in touch with her playful side.

They also remodelled the first floor, so Charlotte could have her big lab, and be closer to her parents in case they needed her. They got rid of the 2nd floor (ignore the stairs in the background, I just don't have a picture from after deleting them):

Eventually, their happy life came to an end: Charles died, and Melihet was so devastated, she mourned herself to death as well:

Charlotte started to realize just how alone she was, in that huge house, and eventually decided to adopt a little girl, Sasa:

Despite some self-hate problems, Sasa eventually managed to grow into a very nice teenager with a family aspiration:

Normals:

Let's backtrack a bit to follow Melanie. Her marriage to John III was one of the two main social events of her generation. After all, John III was the most desirable male in that generation - not as rich as the FilthyRich boys, but good-looking, and from the oldest family in Normalville.

John III concentrated on his career, and rose up to SWAT leader only a few days into adulthood. Melanie, meanwhile, immediately got pregnant:

It's a boy! ... *and* a girl!

Everyone was ecstatic. The kids were good-looking - well, ok, John IV has sadly inherited the Everyman ears from his grandmother, and Rosevare's chin looks a bit strange, but overall, the kids promise to become bright and beautiful.

But life can't always be happy, as Beth Rose's death shows us:

Following on the heels of that tragedy was another one. Melanie had been feeling unhappy in her role as wife and mother, and couldn't take it anymore. She had to get out, to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. Even tho John III offered to let her go off on her own, she wanted a complete fresh start, unencumbered by any family ties. She insisted on a divorce, and left.

The break-up hit Joseph hard as well: he knew he wasn't getting any younger, and he really wanted to be sure that his son and grandchildren would be well taken care of.

And he knew just the person he wanted to do the care taking: John III often brought Ezekiel Breeder home from work, and thus the Normals also knew he had a sister, Esther. As his father had gotten older, John III had asked Ezekiel if she would be willing to come over occasionally, to take care of household chores and keep his father company. Esther had been happy to do so, and she and Joseph had gotten quite friendly.

So Joseph started to complain about all his aches and pains, and demanded that Esther be around more and more, and included her in as many family activities as he could. The plan worked: John III and Esther fell in love, and John III quickly proposed. They were married in a small, private ceremony.

Not long afterwards, Esther gave birth to a son: Johnathan. Everyone was happy:

And I just realized that I have no picture of Joseph's death. Ups.

However, I do have a view of the again remodelled upper floor (after Johnathan grew to childhood, the potty and toy were replaced with another desk):

Esther took good care of the kids, but she did insist on more conservative clothes, especially for Rosevare. Maybe that's the reason that Rosevare and Esther never got friendly with each other: their relationship scores never got over 10/10.

Johnathan grew from toddlerhood to childhood - and he can't hide that he has Breeder blood. He has that slightly fixated look that most of the Breeder males inherited. Ok, that and the dark blue eyes:

John III is a really great husband: as Captain Hero, he's not afraid of anything, even the dirtiest toilet bowl:

Rosevare grew into a very talented artist at a young age:

And here are all three kids after transitioning to adults. John IV is a Family sim, Rosevare and Johnathan aspire Popularity.

Postscript:

John III's sister Josepha had moved out into a small house of her own while working as an intern for Tobias Breeder. She's a lot more conservative and old-fashioned than John III - she is, after all, happy working for the ultra-conservative Tobias Breeder, and that says a lot.

Alien:

Melanie went off to have an amazing career in ShowBusiness. Part of this was thanks to K'nat Alien, who she had hired as her secret manager: he just had a knack for knowing which scripts she should take, and how to best present herself to the media. With around 10 days left in her adult life, she's reached the top of the ShowBiz career, and is now a renowned superstar.

With all the money Melanie had been making, they bought a small house. K'nat lives there all the time, and Melanie comes home between shoots and/or media events.

K'nat spends the days when Melanie is gone with his usual hobby: seducing women. He usually stays good friends with them afterwards, and he has also started an additional hobby: giving them make-overs. The women are always very thankful for his beauty tips:

Nearly all of the female standard townies and NPCs can be made into pretty good-looking women with some custom hair and some makeup. Here's Marylena the Delivery person as an example:

But while K'nat has lovers on the side, the one he's really devoted is Melanie. And not just because she pays for all of his bills. *g*

And in case anyone has been wondering, K'nat mother S'tae is still alive. And pregnant - but I'm no longer quite sure who impregnated her: it was either Charles or Donald Cheater. I've decided that she's hibernating in her home, and I'll only bring her and her offspring out if the blue skintone ever breeds itself out of the gene pool.

BreederTwin:

Ezekiel Breeder had given up his engagement with Svertgard Nordic so he could be able to look after his sister. But now that she's happily married to John III Normals, he is ready to start a family of his own. A while ago, he met Willifred Rose Everyman at a wedding, and despite her shyness and slight manic clumsiness was quite taken with her.

He stared inviting her over, and soon realized that she was the woman he wanted to marry (her talk of tomato soup won him over *g*).

They were married into a private little ceremony and moved into a nicer home. Willifred grew out of her awkwardness and into a very beautiful woman. Soon she was pregnant (and desperately waiting for Ezekiel to come home before she went into labor):

She gave birth to twin boys, Abraham and Benjamin:

Here are overview shots of their home:

Willifred developed a love of gardening, and their garden was the envy of all Normalville (er. Please pretend that the picture shows a really great garden. I suck at landscaping, and usually don't bother with it at all). Because Ezekiel was a lot nicer than most Breeder men, he didn't even mind that she actually got a job as a gardener once the boys were old enough to be in school.

Abraham inherited his mother's love of plants (and please pretend that he's cultivating orchids *g*), while Benjamin seemed to have inherited his father's love of logic.

And here they are as teenagers (both are Family):

CheaterTrash:

Last time we saw them, they were a happy family (that's always an ominous beginning, isn't it? *g*)

Mali was the first to fall in love, with Felicitas Cheater. I'm not sure if Lola has a problem because her sister/adopted daughter is in love with a woman, or because Felicitas is in the military career...

Mali also reached the top of the teen modelling career, and become an overachiever. Not bad for someone who spent some of her toddler years in an orphanage...

She soon grew into a beautiful adult, and moved out to live with Felicitas.

Leni, meanwhile, had set her eyes on Bernard FilthyRich - he might not be that good-looking, but at least he had tons of money.

I apparently didn't take any interesting pictures of Henrietta, but since she spent most of her time sitting around studying, it's probably because she didn't do anything interesting.

Lola still hadn't told anyone that she'd been feeling strange for quite some time now. After all, Geraldine was always busy with research - Lola didn't want to burden her with any other worries. And since she still worked in the evenings, she could spend a lot of time alone and at home in bed. Surely this was just a strange flu that'd go away soon.

The mysterious virus had other ideas:

[I have to say, Death by Sickness was rather disturbing to watch...]

The only one in the house who noticed her distress was their male maid, and he just stood by, watching disinterestedly as Lola died - and then promptly turned around, finished cleaning the house and left:

Henrietta and Leni were the unlucky ones who found their mother's dead body urn when they came home from school:

Geraldine was devastated:

They buried her in the garden, and Geraldine later refused to have her body be moved to the community graveyard. She couldn't bare the thought of being separated from Lola, even if it was just her corpse:

2 days after one of their mother's death, Leni and Henrietta grew into adults. Leni moved out immediately because she was getting married to Bernard, and Henrietta followed only a few days later:

Small wonder they wanted out, Geraldine couldn't stop blaming herself for not noticing that Lola had been sick, and seemed to have become fixated on some very strange research topics, living up to her "Mad Scientist" job. Many days passed [long enough for Geraldine to get 2 grandchildren, but we'll get to that later], and Geraldine had become a total recluse, buried in research. She lost all contact with her children, or any of her acquaintances. Finally, however, she found a way to make up for her fatal mistake: she'd discovered a way to resurrect Lola!

But somewhere, something went wrong - and Lola came back as a zombie!

And what's worse, being turning into a zombie was so traumatic that Lola fell out of love with Geraldine.

But Geraldine's love for Lola was unbroken - the fact that her beloved had a semi-rotten body was not going to keep them apart. So she set out to win back Lola's love:

And she was quite successful:

Still, as Geraldine held Lola's clammy body close at night, she wondered about their future. Lola's body was nearly indestructible, but Geraldine was extremely close to age-transitioning to elder, and even with all the research she used to do, Geraldine had never found a way to stop aging completely.

After putting Lola through the horrors of becoming a zombie, she couldn't just leave her all alone in the world after Geraldine's death. There was only one solution: Geraldine had to find a way to become a zombie herself!

And, after some gruelling research, the deed was done:

And now Geraldine and Lola could look forward to rotting together being together forever.

If this was a tv movie, this'd be the moment for the schmalzy music and the end credits to roll...

Theoretically, this is the end of the CheaterTrash family. However, I ended up having Henrietta continue that family name, to avoid having to come up with another new name for a family. We'll get to her and her sisters in a bit.

BreederOld:

(please ignore the fact that the girls here have totally inappropriate red nails. I accidentally installed an alternative light default replacement skin with a packaged sim, and it took me quite some time to track it down and get rid of it. You can see it in a few other families, too, but nowhere is it quite as inappropriate as here...)

Last time we saw the 4 older Breeder sisters, Ruth had already moved out and eventually gotten married to Siegwulf Nordic. The other 3 were still living on the trust fund that their grandparents had set up for them (on the condition that they continued to live as chaste spinsters): Judith was traumatized and spent most of the time hiding in her room and painting, and Rebekkah and Rachael... well. they were up to something *really* inappropriate:

More precisely, it was Rebekkah who'd started this incestuous affair, but soon, she grew bored with it, and considered Rachael's attempts to get her attention annoying:

Judith, btw, may have been oblivious to most things around her, but not to everything:

Rebekkah was fed up with having to wear such unattractive clothes and hairstyles, and started to try and work around the detailed rules of their trust fund as best as she could.

The main reason? She had discovered males, in the form of Brett FilthyRich:

Rachael was horrified to see her sister/lover with someone else, and such a shockingly scantily clad male!!

But Rebekkah was furious that her sister showed signs of jealousy. She'd only been using Rachael to satisfy her sexual cravings...

Rachael was bewildered and hurt. She'd been naive enough to not understand how wrong her sister's sexual attentions had been, and she *did* miss the "love" she had gotten from her more dominant twin.

As soon as Rebekkah turned into an adult, she knew she had to leave

And who better to move in with than one of the 3 biggest heirs in Normalville?

Rebekkah moved out 4 hours after age transitioning.

Rachael - who'd always been hoping that her sister would come around and love her again - was in hysterics.

FilthyRich:

I had no further use for the FilthyRich parents (since I only created the family to have enough males), so they ... had an accident. Somewhere far away. And left all their money to their kids, of course.

Here's Bernard, who became a very successful lawyer, with his fiancée Leni, having a pre-martial cuddle.

Their marriage was the 2nd big social event of that generation. In the background, you can see Henrietta being absolutely *charmed* with Bernard's nerdy younger brother Alfred. And this is also the last shot of Evie Cheater still being alive.

They moved into a new and lavishly furnished town house (and they'll now be referred to as the FilthyRich family in future instalments. It seemed fair, considering that Bernard is the one who makes the really *big* money).

However, Leni wasn't all that enthusiastic about immediately getting pregnant:

And even after the baby was born, it was either the nanny or Bernard who took care of their child: a girl, named Tiffanee Eve.

Who grew into the scariest toddler ever. Sadly enough, her face didn't get any better after reaching childhood, either. Those cheekbones could kill someone!

But the family's last name was not FilthyRich for nothing. Of course they found the best surgeons in existence who were set to work on improving Tiffanee's facial features (in other words, I edited her with SimPE). While they couldn't turn her into a great beauty, they could significantly improve her looks nonetheless. Well, apart from the cheekbones...

Tiffanee wasn't especially talented in anything, even tho her parents tried to interest her in all kinds of prestigious hobbies. The only thing she did learn was to play a few songs on the piano, but even that she did listlessly.

At first, Leni loved being in charge of such a grand house - but soon, she grew weary of having nothing to do at all. Soon, she spent most of her days drinking her boredom away.

For the longest time, she was also incredibly annoyed whenever her husband invited some of his Pleasanttown partners over for an after-work drink.

Until she noticed John Burb's interest in her ... assets. She immediately decided that having an affair would do nicely to spice up her life.

Unfortunately, John insisted that he had no interest in her at all, considering that he had a wife and 2 kids at home.

But a not so subtle reminder that her husband could be quite jealous, and would not take well to a junior partner casting lustful glances after his wife, John gave in. After all, he really needed his job to be able to pay back all that money for his new home in Pleasanttown.

After her affair with John Burb became routine, Leni met the other Pleasanttown partner of her husband: Daniel Pleasant. Life suddenly seemed a lot more interesting to Leni...

And eventually, Tiffanee Eve grew into a teenager - thankfully her features smoothed out somewhat. However, whether or not she'll have enough charm to fulfil her Romance aspiration - we'll see.

Meanwhile, over at the original FilthyRich home, Brett brought home Rebekkah Breeder as his new permanent guest.

Here's an overview shot of the ground floor where Brett and Rebekkah lived (and woohoo'd other people):

And here's Rebekkah, seducing Evelynn in the hot tub the day after she moved in (Brett didn't mind - after he came home, he watched them).

Alfred, working hard on the IT career track, was very happy to have met Henrietta Cheater at his brother's wedding, and continued inviting her over. Leni (who often came over to soak in the hot tub) thought it was about time her sister started to get interested in romance...

After a number of romantic dinners for two, Alfred finally made the first step towards obvious flirtation:

And then it was only a matter of hours before they decided to get married right in the library.

Both spent a couple of days raising their skills and advancing in their jobs (Henrietta was on the medical career path), until finally they were expecting a baby:

And here's little Immanuel, looking not particularly happy to be held by Rebekkah. And here he is again, already aged to childhood. Granted, he isn't the best looking kid I've ever had, but considering how horrible Tiffanee Eve turned out, I'd say he's not that bad looking.

Right before Immanuel transitioned to teenager, Alfred and Henrietta decided that they wanted a home where they didn't constantly have to see Brett and Rebekkah bring home strangers to woohoo. Here's their new home, with a nice basement laboratory:

And here's teenaged Immanuel, who is a knowledge sim:

This lot will now be referred to as the CheaterTrash home - otherwise, I'd have 2 FilthyRich families, and that would get confusing.

Oh, right - what about Brett and Rebekkah? Well, Brett had nearly nothing left of his inheritance, so they couldn't afford to stay at their old home. You'll see where they ended up on a bit.

BreederOld:

Judith, meanwhile, had become close friends with Mali Cheater - and after a while, they had even developed tender romantic feelings.

However, that didn't mean that Mali was cheating on Felicitas - Felicitas knew very well that Mali and Judith were getting close, and was open-minded enough to accept this. She even came up with the idea to invite Judith to move in with them (and all 3 of them knew that it might be years before Judith was ready for any kind of intimate physical relationship).

Rachael was glad to see her sister find happiness, and while she was sad to see her go, they did part on best terms.

Cheater:

The Cheater family story starts with a tragedy, as Death finally caught up with the family matriarch, Evie.

Soon afterwards, the family decided to move into a different home, one that was nearer to the forest surrounding Normalville.

Felicitas, Mali and Judith managed to live in a happy threesome. The only thing missing was a child, and so they adopted a little girl, named Sionnedh. Sadly enough, I didn't take any good pictures of her as a child:

They were happy - and for Judith, it was the first time in her life ever that she had been this happy. She loved everything about her new home, but her very favorite thing to do was to lie in the grass at night and look at the stars.

Until one fateful night, when she saw something strange above her. Was it a bird? A plane?

Nope, just a falling satellite, out to kill and pulverize her...

But life goes on: Donald turned into an elder, and Mali and Felicitas continued to rise on their career ladders:

And finally, here's Sionnedh as a teenager (Popularity):

Native:

After Tamak Native married Dina Caliente, she left her 2 teenaged boys with ... well, pretty much nothing. All they could afford was a crummy old trailer in the poorest part of town:

Manilat and Rissen shared the same girlfriend: Jezebel Breeder (not knowing that she was also their half-sister).

After Jezebel's mother died in a tragic fire that also consumed their tiny little house, they offered to let her and her baby sister move in - after all, the alternative was for her to live on the streets. But such a cramped and dirty trailer really wasn't the proper place for a baby, no matter how everyone tried their best to make little Delilah happy:

But Jezebel didn't know who to go to - the Breeders wouldn't even acknowledge her existence, and both Ezekiel and Esther had just married and had their hands full with their own families.

The only ones left to ask were her 4 older sisters - but she'd never had any contact with them at all. Would they maybe be willing to help?

She didn't know that the only one of her sisters still living at home was Rachael, who'd gotten increasingly lonely, and who was more than willing to not only invite Jezebel and Delilah to live with her, but Manilat and Rissen as well.

They were incredibly happy to get out of that trailer and into a house that was clean and had stable furniture!

Soon, everyone grew into adulthood (or childhood, in Delilah's case). Manilat also decided that something so closely resembling to family life wasn't really for him, and moved out. Rissen and Jezebel continued their affair, and made quite a happy couple (even if they never got around to actually marrying).

Jezebel and Rissen found a new hobby: music. They now plan to eventually found a band and become famous. Until then, Jezebel works as a hairdresser, and Rissen works as a Auto Mechanic.

Here's the new layout for the 1st floor:

Delilah grew into a nice and pretty well-adjusted teenager with a Popularity aspiration:

I know I neglected to take any more pictures of Rachael, but she eventually started to work as a Youth volunteer for the local church, and worked her way up to Church Secretary.

And this picture has nothing to do with the story-line, I just like it:

Companions:

Quite some time ago, when Evelynn NordicCheater was kicked out by her husband for cheating on him, I said that she had moved into her own lot and was working as an "adult escort". She was quite successful in that career - so successful that she now ran a small but high-quality brothel.

Here she is:

And here's her business:

She made enough money that she was *finally* able to afford surgery for the very deformed nose she had inherited from her Alien grandmother. The nose-job was a wonderful success, and Evelynn was happy to no longer having to try and hide her nose.

Of course, she has to have co-workers. Well, in case you wondered where Manilat Native, Rebekkah Breeder and Brett FilthyRich got to - this is where. *g* Here are close-ups of their rooms.

Manilat's room is in cheerful yellow, and he's quite fond of flavoured body paint and - vegetables? ... ok. *cough*. Moving on. The black-and-white room is Brett's, and from his night-stand, you can see that he's fond of having a drink or ten during the day.

Rebekkah's room is the one with the handcuffs and the Tabasco sauce (... *ouch*), and Evelynn mostly has beauty products and business papers in hers.

There isn't any storyline here, tho. I'm not terribly interested in playing families that are just about woohooing (it was fun once, with K'nat. Now it's just boring). Anyway, you can guess what they do all the time. Imagine your own plot line here. *g*
