Normalville - 08a
|
I'm doing my best to put everything into something resembling chronological order, with some shuffling to make the storylines read better. Click on the family name to get to the family-only summaries. |

I
finally sat down and weeded out my screenshots and wrote up another
part of this storyline. As it's been 4 months since I last updated,
this update is rather long - but at least this time, I played with all
of the families. I just wanted to wait until all children in this generation
transitioned into teenagers; I had no idea it'd take me this long. |
|
Note: I still play with the teen woohoo hack, realistic nudes, teen pregnancy, and occasionally have disturbing storylines. |

First of all, here are some facts about this neighborhood that I know when I'm playing, but that I've never mentioned before (feel free to skip, it's not really essential information): So far, Normalville and it's new "neighborhood" of of Maxis families ('Pleasanttown') aren't interacting a lot yet. They're 2 separate towns that are going to slowly grow closer. Some adults have met each other via their jobs, but that's it. This generation will not intermarry (I made sure all kids only made 'appropriate' friends), but the next generation will probably have to. Normalville was created to be a very white neighborhood, where colored sims would at first not be welcome and would take a while to be integrated. I had originally planned to create new sims with other skin tones and introduce them slowly, but I'll now just use the colored sims that come with the Maxis families to introduce more variety. I've played blue-skinned aliens to be non-existent to any higher government as soon as it was possible to do so: they never go to school, and are - more or less - a hidden secret. Green-skinned aliens are known to exist, but given their strange (and to the more conservative minds, "perverted") origins, Normalville has been less than welcoming to them. Pleasanttown, of course, already has a long history with green-skinned people, and while they're still somewhat of a novelty, they are pretty well integrated into their community. There's some political diversity: generally, Normalville is more conservative than Pleasanttown, but it really depends on individual families. The Breeders are the most conservative, and the Cheaters have so far been the most liberal ones (which is why Tobias Breeder considered it such a catch to make Daniela Cheater to fall in love with him - he wants to follow her father as the new mayor). The religion that has shown up so far is Christianity-flavored, but isn't supposed to be represent any particular denomination - they have a nunnery, but the Breeders act like extreme fundamentalists. When it comes to jobs, I keep an eye on the high-level ones. It's not possible for more than one sim per generation to have any of the top-level jobs in most careers: there's no place for more than 1 mayor or Captain Hero (or even Head of Law enforcement), but there is room for more than one mad scientist. This isn't that much of a hassle, since I use quite a few custom careers. Each generation will only have a handful of college students. All of them will either have earned at least one scholarship, or they'll have very rich parents. I also don't play to maximize moods or reach the highest job or make the most money: some sims will never be happy, or never be rich, or never rise above a very low-level job. I like the variety. Besides, it makes for more interesting story-lines. *g* Here's an overview of what Normalville looks like now. All the houses in the lower row are the families I created, all the houses in the middle of the upper row are the families I imported from the Maxis neighborhoods. The 2 houses in the left upper row are the 2 legacy families, and the 2 lots in the right upper row are the community lot and the graveyard (technically a CAS-created family, but it'll serve both neighborhoods). |
